Student Asthma Registry Open For Registration

The 2023/2024 Bermuda Student Asthma Registry is still open for registration for students aged 4-18 with asthma in Bermuda.

A spokesperson said, “The 2023/2024 Bermuda Student Asthma Registry is still open for registration of students [age 4-18] in Bermuda who have asthma, with a final push for registrations to take place now through the end of October. It is currently estimated that just over 50% of students in Bermuda with asthma have been added to the registry for the current school year.”

Upon initial release of the Registry in late August, the Minister of Health, Kim Wilson stated “The goal is to improve and assist students with asthma to have the healthiest year possible. Parents are asked to submit their information each September to ensure accuracy as the health, school and contact details of students can change. Registering annually also allows our asthma specialists to afford the most-up-to-date assessment of affected students.”

The spokesperson said, “The registry [which takes approximately 2 minutes to complete] is accessible online and provides local asthma healthcare providers as well as the ministries of Health and of Education, the ability to track and ensure proper supports are in place for students with asthma. All information provide is held as strictly confidential.

“The registry is a collaborative effort of the Department of Education, the Department of Health, Bermuda Hospitals Board [BHB] – Asthma Education Centre and Open Airways, a Bermuda registered charity.

“If your child has asthma, or you suspect they might, please add their information to the 2023/2024 Bermuda Student Asthma Registry today. Access here.”
