The Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art announced the opening of a new exhibition in the Rick Faries Gallery titled Keeping Calm by artist and art educator, Louisa Bermingham.
A spokesperson said, “This showcase of Bermingham’s work, who is known for her distinctive still life and interiors paintings, will be on view from Friday, September 29, to Sunday, October 24, 2023. The public is invited to attend the exhibition’s opening reception on Friday, September 29, 2023, from 5:30 to 7:00 PM.”
Speaking to her practice and artistic journey, Bermingham shared: “As a mother and an art teacher, my artwork is an escape from an increasingly intense world of demands and pressures and injustices by being happy and calm and a simple exploration of texture, light, color, pattern, and line.
“I am interested in drawing with paint and pushing my internal constraint of perspective and form representation. I intentionally limit the time in which I create images as a way of capturing immediacy with my mark-making. The pressures of the world often play on my time, interestingly insisting that I create manageable presentations of wonderful things, that give pause for rest.”
The spokesperson said, “For those eager to delve deeper into the artist’s creative process and gain insight into the inspiration behind her works, an artist talk is scheduled for October 17, 2023. Tickets for the public are $10, and for Masterworks Members the event is Free. Tickets can be purchased on the Masterworks website.
“Don’t miss this exciting exhibition by Louisa Bermingham, which promises to be one of many great experiences of Bermuda’s Art Month.
