DeSilva-Andrade, Hayward Win Opening Matches
Bermuda’s Omar Hayward and Yushae DeSilva-Andrade started competing at the ParaPan Games in Chile, with both winning their opening matches.
DeSilva-Andrade won her opening round-robin match in the women’s individual BC1 pool A division, defeating Ailen Flores, of Argentina, 3-2.
Meanwhile, Hayward, competing in the men’s individual BC1 pool A division, beat German Caldéron Nahuel, of Chile, 7-2 and Jose Pagua Herrera, of Venezuela, 5-3.
Hayward faces Jose Chagas de Oliveira, of Brazil, today.
